In 2015, Virginia ranked in the top 10 states for the most reported sex trafficking cases, according Attorney General Mark Herring’s office.
The Butterfly House, founded in 2013, is raising money to purchase a home and start operating a safe house by the end of the year.
“A young girl at the age of 11 will have to service up to 50 or 100 men a day,” said Char Miller. “They are beaten. They are starved. They are forced to use drugs. They are threatened if they leave that their families will be killed.”
